Bacchus Woodline DX5 Sakura Custom 2017
WOODLINE DX5 SAKURA CUSTOM 2017
Bacchus is a brand under the Japanese Company Deviser Guitars.
The master builder Yasuo Momose founded Bacchus in the 70’ties has been building basses since. They started out making replicas of American basses, but over the years it has also evolved into basses with a Japanese focus on the high art of woodwork with a deep sense for details.
Bacchus has three lines of basses
Woodline (100% hand-built in Japan)
Handcrafted (midrange)
Global (price friendly)
Sakura is the name for the Japanese Cheery threes and now imagine Yasuo Momose under a Sakura tree in the springtime building basses, where the tree blossom. That is not a bad place to be in when you start playing this bass.
This Woodline DX5 Sakura Custom 2017 features an ash body with a Sakura top coloured with a faded burst colour.
The fingerboard is made of purpleheart which is a hardwood but not as hard as ebony meaning it has a pretty organic but percussive sound to it, and with the combination of the body, it becomes a beautifully balanced bass.
The pickups are Bacchus own pickups, and the bass is passive with classic volume, volume and tone knobs but the tone knob as superpowers built into it when you pull the knob out, it turns the two single-coils into series which gives you a more powerful expression, a bit like Musicman.
