Marleaux Diva 5
Marleaux is a bass company located in Germany and founded by Gerald Marleaux.
Marleaux has been building basses since 1990, and his unparalleled passion for quality and attention to detail has led to him being acknowledged as one of the greatest builders currently around.
Gerald hand-picks the wood in the local area around his workshop and treats the woods like a true artisan. Time and attention is put into proper storage, treatment and drying of the woods so their inherent sonic characteristics and qualities shine through uncompromised.
In 2014, The Diva 5 received the best bass at NAMM award. It was clear to see that the award was well deserved, because bass players were hovering over that bass constantly that year at NAMM, including me! We just couldn’t leave this special bass breed alone.
This fretless bass extravaganza is a real stunner from start to finish.
The body is made of Mahogany with a Rosewood top. The fingerboard is all Rosewood and sports a range of no less than three octaves.
The neck is a three-piece maple neck-through design that is super comfortable and fast to play. On top of that it has side marks to show where you are, which comes in handy if you are new to the art of fretless bass playing.
It’s easy to get caught up in the unique and gorgeous design of this bass, but just wait until you hear it. It just sings, and it does that with a voice all of its own.
The Diva 5 comes with a custom oval Marleaux Delano Xtender pickup that captures the sound of the bass in a very pure and potent way.
The bass comes installed with passive electronics, hence the bass just features the essentials of a volume and a tone knob. Simple and easy to use.
The Diva 5 is a truly inspiring instrument that’ll keep you on the right path towards finding your own voice and sound.
