Marleaux Spock Teaburst 5
The Marleaux SPOCK is a full-on rethinking of what a bass can be. Built 100% in Germany, this instrument features an archtop body crowned with a top made from Marleaux’s own Logic Mesh — a transparent composite material that’s never been used in bass building before. And yeah, it looks wild, but it’s not just for show.
The Logic Mesh brings two big wins to the table: incredible strength and a seriously resonant tone that still manages to feel organic and responsive. Add to that the ultra-low weight of the instrument, and you’ve got a bass that’s as easy on your shoulder as it is hard to ignore on stage.
Marleaux also designed the Logic Mesh to be visually customizable — so players can really make their SPOCK their own, without compromising on sound or build. In true Marleaux fashion, it’s all about innovation meeting craftsmanship. This isn’t just a new top wood; it’s a whole new direction.
The Marleaux SPOCK brings together a 32-inch medium scale and an extended 28-fret neck, giving you upper-register access without losing that sweet, compact feel. Under the hood, you’ll find two hidden coils tucked into a sustainably sourced wooden pickup housing. A mini-switch lets you flip between series, parallel, and single-coil modes — so you can shape your tone from punchy and tight to open and airy.
Tone control is handled by a smartly designed electronics setup: a 3-band EQ paired with a passive tone knob that stays active even when you switch to full passive mode — perfect for those who want a quick route to pure wood-and-wire tone.
Another new touch on the SPOCK is the floating bridge, built entirely in-house by Marleaux. Crafted from a sleek wood–stainless steel laminate, this Regio Tone Wood string holder doesn’t just look unique — it’s available in different versions, offering both sonic flexibility and visual flair.

The Spock comes loaded with the Marleaux own BC3 preamp — a carefully voiced circuit with Master, Balance, Passive Tone, Bass, Mid, and Treble controls. This preamp was built specifically to bring out the natural richness of the instrument, not to color it. Whether you’re running active for a bit more sculpting or flipping to passive for pure wood-meets-hands tone, it keeps everything open, detailed, and musical.
