La Bella 760FS Deep Talkin' Bass Flats – Standard 45-105

Stainless Steel Flat Wounds (45-105)
The reference flatwound since the 1950s
If you’ve ever heard a bass record that stopped you in your tracks — a Motown groove, a Stax sit-in, a vintage soul ballad with bass you could feel in your chest — there’s a real chance La Bella flats were on the instrument. They’ve been the choice for professional players since the late 50s, and the 760FS is the standard-tension long-scale set sitting right at the heart of that legacy.
What they sound like
Deep, dense, fundamental-heavy. The hand-polished stainless steel surface kills finger squeak and delivers that smooth, gliding feel flats are loved for — but unlike nickel flats, there’s a touch more bite in the upper midrange. Enough to articulate a busy line, never enough to fizz. Played fresh, they have a controlled brightness; broken in, they settle into the dark, woody thump you came to flats for in the first place. Phenomenal on a P-bass, equally at home on a Jazz, made for fretless.
Built to last
Made in the USA with American wire, packaged in MAP (Modified Atmosphere Packaging) to prevent tarnish before the set ever leaves the wrapper. Once they’re on the bass and broken in, flats like these will outlast multiple sets of roundwounds — many players run a set for years.

A note on tension
La Bella flats run on the higher-tension side compared to most roundwound sets. That’s part of what gives them their characteristic punch and pitch definition — but it does mean your truss rod and setup may want a small adjustment when you swap from rounds. Worth the small effort.
