Eich 212S — 2×12″ Ceramic Cabinet (8 Ohm)

Eich Amplification build their cabinets in Germany with one goal in mind: get the weight down without giving up the tone. The 212S is their full-size 2×12″ — a cab that moves serious air and fills a stage, but at 22 kg it’s light enough that load-in doesn’t feel like a workout.

The heart of it is a pair of 12″ TE12D ceramic speakers. Ceramic (ferrite) magnets give you that thick, warm, old-school fundamental — round lows and punchy mids that sit perfectly under a band — while the vented, well-braced cabinet keeps everything tight and controlled instead of boomy. This is authority and warmth, not sterile hi-fi.

Up top sits Eich’s 1″ NT1 horn tweeter, and this is where the 212S gets clever: a 6-way tweeter switching system lets you dial the high end from fully off to bright and open, with both hard- and soft-attack voicings. Roll it back for vintage flatwound thump, open it up for slap and fingerstyle definition — it’s genuinely useful, not a gimmick. The cab is voiced for both electric and upright bass, so double-bass players get a clean, natural top without harshness.

At 8 Ohm the 212S runs happily on its own from most modern heads, and if you ever want to move more air you can add a second 8-Ohm cab to drop your rig to 4 Ohm and unlock your amp’s full output. Ampfixing brackets on top hold your head securely, and two built-in tilt positions (8° and 16°) turn it into a stage monitor when you need to hear yourself.

Build & Tweeter Switching

Everything about the 212S is aimed at the working bassist. The lightweight, well-braced plywood cabinet keeps the low end punchy rather than flabby, the Ampfixing bracket locks your amp head to the top so nothing walks off during a loud set, and the strain-relief handle plus non-slip feet make load-in and positioning painless. Two tilt angles (8° and 16°) let you aim it back at your ears as a monitor.

The real party trick is the 6-way tweeter switching system on the 1″ NT1 horn. Instead of a single tweeter-level knob, you get six voiced steps — from fully off (pure vintage warmth), through soft-attack settings that add air without fizz, to hard-attack settings that bring out slap snap and fingerstyle articulation. One cab covers flatwound thump, modern slap, and everything between without ever touching your amp EQ.
