La Bella LTF-4A — Light-Gauge Flats With Real Thump
La Bella has been winding strings in New York since 1913, and the LTF-4A applies everything they’ve learned from the Deep Talkin’ Bass flats to a lighter, more flexible package. The trick is round cores instead of hex — less rigid under tension, so a .042-.100 set actually feels like a .042-.100 instead of pulling like something heavier.
You get the warm fundamental, the polished smooth feel, and the classic tic-toc thump that makes flats worth playing — without the stiffness that usually comes with stainless steel. The narrower ribbon wire on the wrap means a glassy surface under your fingertips, easier on a fast left hand and on the frets. If you’ve been wanting flats but your neck or your wrists won’t agree, this is the set most players call the safe landing.
