Like every Dingwall, the fanned-fret multiscale design is the secret weapon. The low B (or low strings in general) stay tight and punchy, while the higher strings feel smooth and easy. Intonation is spot-on, and the even tension across the strings just makes you play better and longer without thinking about it.

The Super J5 is Dingwall’s modern take on the classic J-bass idea – but as always, Sheldon and the team take it to another level. This one comes dressed in a stunning Black Gold metallic finish, shimmering with depth under the lights. It’s bold, refined, and just plain cool.

At the heart is an alder body, giving you a balanced, full sound with warm mids and a solid low end foundation. The maple neck keeps things stable and adds a touch of brightness, while the wenge fingerboard brings in that trademark growl and snap – perfect for keeping the attack clear in a busy mix.

This Super J5 is loaded with three Dingwall FDV pickups – having a “vintage vibe with a modern twist,” providing a more organic and less scooped tone compared to the brighter and more modern FD3 pickups. They are known for a clean and smooth sound with even frequency response.

Driving it all is a 3-band Glockenklang preamp, which is as transparent and musical as it gets. You can shape your sound without losing any of the natural tone of the wood and pickups – fat lows, sweet mids, and crisp highs, all under your fingertips.
