The Sandberg California VM4 in Cream Hardcore Aged is the four-string version of one of the most popular modern bass platforms in Europe, and this particular configuration nails the balance between vintage attitude and modern performance.

Sandberg has been building basses by hand in Braunschweig, Germany since 1986, and the California VM is the model that put them on the map. It’s a design that takes the classic offset bass template and rethinks every detail – the body contours, the neck pocket depth, the pickup placement, the hardware – all refined through decades of feedback from working musicians. The Hardcore Aged finish is Sandberg’s signature relic treatment, designed to give the instrument a look of having spent years on the road. The cream finish shows deliberate wear through to the wood beneath, the tortoiseshell pickguard has been aged to match, and the hardware carries a convincing patina.
